We understand that service fee increases affect every household, which is why we thoroughly assess our costs and explore all options before proposing any increases. Our commitment to transparency means keeping you informed about how we manage these essential services and what drives our fees. Through careful planning and operational efficiency, we strive to keep our services both reliable and affordable for all residents.

What service fees are increasing?

To keep pace with rising inflation and continue funding essential operations and maintenance of our infrastructure, we’re proposing fee increases for the services below to ensure longevity and effectiveness of each essential system in the coming years.

Trash bins

WATERWORKS DISTRICTS

The Los Angeles County Waterworks Districts provides reliable, high-quality water and responsive customer care in a cost-effective, sustainable, and environmentally responsible manner to 260,000 people within our service areas.

Waste collection services

Garbage Disposal Districts (GDDs) provide collection and disposal of trash, recyclables, and organic waste among other services to keep our communities clean.

Sewer Maintenance

Sewer Maintenance Districts (SMDs) offer essential services like routine inspections, cleaning, and repairs vital to support a clean environment and promote healthy communities

What is Proposition 218?

Any new service fee increases adopted by public agencies in California must comply with Proposition 218. Agencies may not charge more than their actual costs for providing services. Agencies also need to provide a notice to customers of a potential increase to their fees.

What should I expect?

If you are impacted by any proposed service fee increase, you will receive a notice from Public Works in early May 2025.
